MTB Stone-Guard Installation

1)  Wash bike with a non-wax base soap. Dawn seems to work well.

2) With provided alcohol wipes, clean the area where you have decided to use a Stone-Guard. Make sure there is no residue in that area.

3) If you are comfortable adhering the product to your bike without the use of a guide that is up to you. We recommend using some masking tape to assist you aligning your Guard. Place a strip of masking tape on the side or on the end of the Guard to align it while you remove a portion of the adhesive backing. Then slowly use the provide squeegee to smooth on the Guard being careful not to create bubbles. Once the Guard is on remove the tape and press on the Guard with the squeegee to make sure all edges are sticking. If you do trap a bubble, you can use a hair dryer, lightly eat the area and lift guard to release the bubble.

4) The use of a heat Gun or Hairdryer will help in the installation process. Using a “fine” mist sprayer also makes the installation easier. You can add 2 drops of Dawn Soap to help positioning.  I have also used an alcohol wipe to wet the area, but you must hold the Guard in place while it evaporates. THIS PRODUCT HAS PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE, and you must apply pressure with the squeegee. In some cases, you might have to use a zip tie or tape until the adhesive fully sticks. Avoid tight corners with the 40mil Guards.

We will be adding a tips and tricks video soon.
